How can we help families through this outbreak?
Updated: May 26
We hope you are staying healthy during these challenging times. We know you care about the vulnerable families we support in Moldova, so we want to let you know the additional support we are providing as Covid-19 begins to bite. Our support to families in Moldova is more important than it has ever been and with your help we can make a real difference.
At the beginning of March, when the first case of Covid-19 was registered in Moldova, we delivered our usual monthly supplies to our families. Shortly after Moldova shut the schools, and on the 17th March declared a State of Emergency. We know quarantined or self-isolated families, who are already struggling, are simply unable to provide enough food for their many children to sustain a period of solitude, particularly as they are no longer receiving a hot school meal.
Thanks to a generous donation from Kaufland, we have delivered a new food and hygiene packages to 80 families. We are also delivering important news updates on the current situation to our beneficiaries (about 80% of them don’t have a TV, Internet, or radio) and reassuring them, through our counselling and psychological support services, that they are not alone and we’ll help them get through this. We will be making regular donations to our families every few weeks to ensure they have everything they need to help them stay safe and well.
As well as supporting families already accessing help from The Moldova Project we are working we new families and receive regular requests from people seeking help at this most difficult time. We’re painfully aware we can’t help everybody, and that this problem is only at the beginning.
We know the impact of Covid-19 is being felt globally and many people are facing very difficult challenges. However, if you are able to help us provide additional support to the Moldovan families needing our help, you can make a donation here. All donations are very much appreciated, regardless of the amount. A small amount goes a long way in Moldova. Thank you so much again for your continued support.
We’re thinking of our valued supporters as well as the families in our villages and wish you the very best of health. With very best wishes from us all at The Moldova Project
